The history of the breed
The appearance of an exotic shorthair cat dates back to the fifties of the last century. American cat breeder Carolyn Bussey was set a goal to get a Persian cat with a brown color.To this end, she carried out a crossing of the Persian specimen with the brown Burmese breed. The result was the production of offspring with the presence of black wool. This didn’t upset the breeder at all, as the kittens had a rather pretty appearance.
At the same time, American breeders carried out work in which Persian cats interbred with the American Shorthair breed. Such work was carried out by them in order to improve the gene pool and get a silver color. Everything was done in secret, because such work was forbidden. As a result, hybrids appeared that were universally recognized at feline show events.

She was the breeder of the breed American shorthair cat.Thanks to her efforts, exotic gained recognition. Exotic she was named because her wool had a silver color, which was not the case with the former American.

This breed has the following characteristics:

- Extreme. The nose of a snub-nosed character is somewhat upturned, and its location is between the eyes. At the same time, the muzzle is flat, with the presence of a somewhat depressed character. This leads to the creation of an effect in which the nasolabial folds are accompanied by deep wrinkles. The same can be observed where the nose bridge and forehead are located.

Cats of this breed have a calm character. They are delicate, unobtrusive and modest in behavior. The animal has a quiet and gentle voice. Exot is characterized by pronounced devotion to their masters. Possessing a curious and friendly disposition, they are attentive, intelligent, affectionate and moderately playful. But when choosing a partner for the game, they prefer not to a person, but to some other representative of the fauna.
Exotic beauty can not stand loneliness. In the absence of the owner, they are able to suffer greatly.
