He leads nocturnalism, settles himself in forests, kitchen gardens, gardens, and when he wants to get closer to people, he finds housing in barns and other house buildings. The female during the season brings 10-12 cubs for three broods and from March begins to breed.

It feeds on greens, bulbs, roots, legumes and grasses, and it starts from the moment of planting. Since the carby does not like to sleep in the winter, therefore it makes edible reserves for the winter to the detriment of the gardener. For a full wintering he will need about 12 kg of products. So the wrecking caused by the hamster is very noticeable. By aggressiveness is similar to a rat, it can even rush at people. He does not tolerate the heat of the day, dies from the scorching rays of the sun, but he is friends with water, but in moderation, he avoids large and shallow reservoirs. By nature, karbyshi are not gregarious animals; they dig burrows at a distance of one to another from a depth of 1.5-2 meters.
