Fears - this is normal, with some of them you can live in peace. For example, if you are afraid of snakes, you can live in peace, because in everyday life you will not meet them in our latitudes. Some fears can be simply ignored. For example, if you are afraid of heights, then just avoid the heights. But in the modern world, having the opportunity to own a car and passing on the right, you must do something with the fear of driving.
The reasons for the fear of driving
Fear is first and foremost a psychological problem, so to solve it, it is necessary to understand and understand where the “fear legs grow from”. The reasons may be very different, but the main ones, we will highlight:
- Uncertainty. Most often, newbies very much doubt whether they can keep everything under control, and whether they are theoretically well-grounded.Such a problem may also appear after a long break in driving. Sometimes it takes some time for old skills to return. Still similar uncertainty can pursue drivers who returned for a wheel after accident.
- Other road users. On the road, rudeness is a familiar thing. Crop, call an unpleasant word, even provoke a fight - such troubles can occur with anyone, even the most conscientious driver. You can run into such a “bull” anywhere. They live not only on the roads. This fear can "knock out" the road from under the wheels of a novice, and he will forget everything he knew.
- A responsibility. The driver is responsible for the life and health not only of his own, but also of passengers, as well as pedestrians and other road users.
- Fear of traffic police officers. Since our valiant lawmakers on the roads love incomes out of wages, an inexperienced driver can run into the bases, which are many in their arsenal, or just get a fine.
- Fear for your own life. In any case, there is a danger: if you are a responsible driver, and you follow all the rules, do not exceed the speed, then there are not so conscientious people around, and they can cause an accident.
Before the road everyone is equal, almost
Men and women are afraid in different ways, and there is a perception that it is the weaker sex that is more susceptible to fear. This is not surprising: men know more about technology, they are driving in their element, regardless of experience, as well as the woman at the stove. A man understands why, how and what is arranged in the car and most likely will not get lost when something goes wrong on the road, but women most often do not really understand what and how, but just learn to drive and drive. In order to overcome such fear, it will be enough to understand the structure of the car, which sets it in motion, why squeeze the grip and other important aspects. Thus, it will be possible to cope with this problem. The same can be advised and men, if for any reason, such a fear has a place to be.
Driving school
Of course, if there are no driving skills, then the fear of the road, transport and other road users will be present. Training in a driving school is the first step to losing fear. It is important to choose the school correctly so that they teach you there and not just “sell the rights”. At such training courses, especially if the school has proven itself well, most likely there is a special course, during the course of which they will teach you not to be afraid of your own transport and drive with pleasure. The one who still dreams of driving a car will surely have a fear of not coping with all the pedals, at the same time keeping the road under control, turning the steering wheel correctly, and still not forgetting to look around. Listen to the instructor, he understands your fears and can help.
Panic and other serious problems
There are some drivers who are just in panic afraid to get behind the wheel, and only an extreme need can make them do it. This is not a mental disorder, but some serious reason, each has its own. To overcome this is difficult, but you can try. Here, rather, we need not a consultation of a specialist and, as they say, a good “kick ass”. For example, the need to carry a child to school, or a promising position, for which the key factor is the presence of driving experience and driver's license, or any force majeure.
There are also people who, despite the driving experience, still behave at the wheel like newbies: they are careless, inconsiderate, inept, with inhibited reaction and poor coordination. Under normal conditions, as experience progresses, everything is leveled, but if this does not happen, then, most likely, this is a mental disorder that cannot be overcome by own strength, and you should turn to a specialist.
Attention, only attention
As soon as you leave the road for the first time, be extremely careful. Situations there can develop the most diverse, and their outcome depends on your keen eyes. Sicklings on the road can scare anyone, but do not panic. If you know the rules, have all the necessary documents (rights, insurance, power of attorney, if you need one), then you do not need to be afraid of traffic police. Despite the common bases - knowledge of the rights and obligations will be on your side. If you are strained by cars that overtake now and then, and you still be afraid to think about it, do not worry: the skill will come, but after a while.
If a car breaks down on the road, call for the help of other drivers, most of them are conscientious and will be happy to help, because they understand that they themselves can get into a similar situation. Call friends who will surely come to the rescue.
Practical advice
- Before you go, prepare for it. If you already know the route, mentally drive through it, this will help you program yourself correctly. You will remember where the road is good, and where there may be “surprises”. At what point you need to increase, and at what point to reduce the speed, where you need to switch from one gear to another.
- Realize that you need to go in any case, and this does not go away.Explain to yourself that it will not work out otherwise, over time, fear will turn into confidence, and you will forget about it.
- Understand the device of the machine, try to understand the processes occurring in the car, what and how it works. This knowledge will help get rid of the fear of breakage on the road.
- Turn on the psychological method of self-conviction. Tell yourself: "I will succeed", "I will cope", "I can do it", "I am a good driver", "The trip will be successful." In such a training, it is important not to use a piece of “not”, because even if you say “I am not afraid,” the mind does not perceive the whole phrase, but only the particle “not”, setting it in a negative way, to failure.
- Practice more. At first, everyone is scared. But, the more practice there is, the faster the fear will go. For a start, you can leave in the morning when the road is not yet loaded, or on weekends. Practice trips out of town where there is little transport.
Fears are difficult to fight against, but if it concerns driving and fear of getting behind the wheel, fighting it is a way to comfortable conditions of movement or even to get a better paying job. The reasons for each may be different, but each of them can and must be fought, it is only the desire that is important.
