How to clean pearls at home

Cleaning methods
- olive oil;
- starch (potato, corn);
- shampoo or soap for children;
- ground salt (food).
Necessary materials
- cosmetic sponges for applying and removing the cleaning composition;
- soft flannel / cotton fabric (most importantly, moisture-absorbing);
- velvet or suede bags for storing products.
Olive oil
Olive oil is used to add shine and richness to pearl jewelry. In addition, the composition effectively removes even the most complex contaminants.
Apply oil to the cosmetic sponge in moderation, wrap the outermost bead, wipe it thoroughly. Advance along the entire length of the product, carefully treating each pearl.
After the procedure, remove excess oily base with a paper or cotton towel. Gently polish the product with a flannel rag, place the jewelry in a safe place in the bag.

It is categorically not recommended to use other types of natural oils (vegetable, sea buckthorn, corn, etc.) for cleaning pearl jewelry. The structure of these products is extremely fat, they clog small pores on the beads and attract dust.
Starch (corn, potato)

Shampoo or soap for children
Since pearls are delicate jewelry, care must be appropriate. You will need mild liquid soap, baby shower gel or shampoo for cleaning.
Prepare a weak solution by mixing warm purified water with a small amount of the selected product. Dip the cosmetic sponge into the product, wring it out, wipe the beads one by one.
In cases where you decide to clean the earrings, brooch, ring or pendant, send jewelry to the soap composition for 5-10 minutes. After the expiration date, remove the pearl product, dry it with a soft cloth, send it to a safe box or bag.
Food salt
A truly versatile product used to clean jewelry made from different materials. Pearls are no exception.
Prepare a shred of cotton or linen, sprinkle with it ground salt. Place the jewelry on the surface so that the beads are next to the salt.
Wrap the product in a cloth, pour warm (30-35 degrees) filtered water into the container, put a homemade bag of pearls in it. Wait for about half an hour until the salt crystals completely dissolve.
After the expiration date, dry the jewelry, polish the pearls with a soft, lint-free cloth and place in a velvet bag for safety.
Important!
It is forbidden to wash pearls under running water, to influence it with brine, if the product is strung on a sewing thread. Otherwise, the fabric base may rupture under the pressure of water or salt.

- Pay special attention to the storage of pearl jewelry. It is mandatory to wrap them in a velor or suede flap, do not allow contact with other jewelry.
