The fact is that the aggressive components that contribute to the improvement of blood circulation in the scalp are also contained in the husk. After such a mask, the skin will burn a little. However, for the sake of the result is worth suffering. After a rush of blood to the hair follicles, the onions are saturated with vitamins and oxygen. This makes them stronger, they stop falling out. In addition, so you stimulate the awakening and growth of new young hairs, which significantly increases the density of hair.
- Craftswomen who are engaged in needlework and dyeing animal fur know that soaking in broth onion peel makes the curls more shiny and smooth. The fact is that the broth of onion peel seals the flakes of the hair trunk. Hair becomes smooth, uniform, without flaws. This gives your hair an incredible shine.

- Onion rinse is also suitable for those who suffer from dandruff. Broth onion has antiseptic and antifungal properties. With regular use, dandruff disappears forever.
Anyway, onion peel is incredibly useful for hair. But is it possible to change the color of the curls with it?
What color will give onion peel
In general, onion peel has a pleasant golden sheen, which forms the basis of its coloring pigment. However, the hair color that you can get depends on the structure of the hair, its thickness, its own color and the previous history of dyeing.
The husk will give a noticeable result of dyeing when applied to natural hair, if the chemical compositions did not concern them before. In this case, the pigment will be most pronounced. If you rinse dark hair with a decoction of onion peel, they will get a pleasant chestnut shimmer. This will be most noticeable in the sun - the golden color will shine.
If you have brown hair, the bulb will make them gold or copper, depending on the intensity of your own color. However, if you have hair bleached by blonde, be careful - in this case, coloring onion peel can give the strands a chicken shade.
In addition, when collecting husks worth paying attention to its natural color. Some varieties of onions can be brown, others - gold, and others, in general, are reddish. Red onions are used if you want to give your hair an unusual crimson hue. Of course, intensive staining you will not work, but a light overflow, noticeable in daylight, it is possible to achieve.
Cooking husks for coloring
For the procedure to be successful, you need to choose, assemble and prepare raw materials. A good, dry onion needs to be cleaned from the upper husk - we use only the “golden shirt”. No need to use husks with wormy and moldy vegetables. In addition, it is better to peel from the old onion - the young onion peel does not have enough pigment. Husk after collection can be dried in the sun.Store onion peel in a paper or canvas bag in a dark and completely dry place.
Cooking broth onion peel
First you need to prepare a painting decoction. Onion peel for this is placed in an enamel bowl, pour water. It is very important to choose the amount of onion peel. If you take no more than 50 grams of husk, you get a light golden hue. With more husks, you can get a brown tint. If you take three big handfuls of onions, you will dye your hair with a bright orange pigment. And to give the strands a deep chestnut color will have to tightly fill the husk capacity of at least two liters.
Water should be poured to a minimum so as not to lose the concentration of the composition. Pour the liquid so much that the whole husk is submerged under water. Boil the husks need at least an hour, preferably 40-45 minutes. After that, let the broth cool. Strain the composition through a sieve or several layers of gauze. If this is not done, the smallest particles of husk will be stuck in the hair and it will be quite difficult to wash them from there.
If you want a more intense result that will stay on the hair much longer, you can dissolve a couple of tablespoons of glycerin in the finished broth.
How to paint the hair onion peel
So, the decoction is ready. How to apply it to the hair so that the strands are colored evenly?
- When we paint curls with ordinary paint, we try to apply it on dirty hair, so that the natural fatty layer of the scalp protects us from aggressive components of the paint. In our case, we will apply the decoction on a clean head, because its composition is absolutely safe, moreover, clean hair contributes to a more uniform coloring.
- If you have fair skin, onion peel can dye not only your hair, but also your scalp. To prevent this, apply a little bit of castor, olive or burdock oil to the scalp before using the broth. Just dip the fingertips in the oil and go over the scalp. Especially carefully treat the edge of the hair and the area of the parting.
- On clean and dry hair, apply the decoction with a sponge or sponge. This should be done as evenly as possible so that there are no unstained areas left. First, treat the roots of the hair, then spread the broth over the entire length, and then gently dip in the broth tips. No need to just rinse the hair with decoction - so you can get a "spotted" result.
- After that, wrap your hair with cling film, a regular plastic bag or a special hairdresser hat. Heat your head with a towel. Leave the mask for a couple of hours.
- After the specified time, the head will need to be thoroughly rinsed using familiar shampoo. This is especially true if the composition of the decoction was glycerin or you applied oil to the scalp. If you applied pure broth of onion peel to your hair, rinsing the hair will be enough.
- To fix the color you can rinse your hair with vinegar solution - a tablespoon of vinegar per liter of water. This will make the curls more radiant, and the color is deep.
- After shampooing, do not use a hair dryer; your hair should dry naturally.
- If the resulting pigment did not seem to you to be intense enough, you can repeat the procedure daily, until the desired shade is obtained.
- Sometimes thin hair can acquire a light onion scent after such a dye. This is noticeable when wet, if you suddenly fall into the rain. To avoid amber, rinse hair after washing with lemon water (juice of one lemon per liter of water). In this case, an unpleasant smell does not threaten you.
Remarkably, onion coloring is quite resistant - the pigment is not washed off when you first wash your hair. This is another plus in the piggy bank of such a useful and necessary procedure.
Want a bright golden shade of hair? Sometimes even the most expensive and high-quality paint can not give the curls of such a deep and rich tone, which gives us onion peel. Be beautiful not to the detriment of hair health - use natural pigments!
