How to water violets at home

Watering is an important component of full-fledged agro-technology of violets. And it is the right one. After all, these small plants can not be watered in the usual way. Almost something is wrong - just sickness, rotting, moods, withering.

 How to water violets

Many pour water into the pan. But this method also has its own characteristics. How to water violets at home? We will understand together.

Classic method

From above violets can be watered. But not from a watering can with a spray. Water should fall either almost under the root, or on the very edge of the pot. For this method, a syringe, a large syringe without a needle, a watering can with a long narrow nose are well suited.

It is desirable that the water does not flow out, namely absorbed. Otherwise the soil will be washed away. This can be achieved by resting the nozzle directly into the soil. So there will be no splashes that fall on the leaves, and form spots.

The liquid is poured until it begins to protrude on the pallet. After the procedure, wait another 10 minutes, then drain the excess. If this is neglected, the roots will quickly cool and start to rot.

Immersion method

You can't just pour water into the pan and wait for the violet to get drunk. Drainage will not allow a normal amount of fluid to rise. We'll have to wait too long for a good earthy drink. During this time, the water will cool down. And violets do not like cold.

Correctly do so:

  1. Take the container, the diameter of which is slightly larger than a pot of violet.
  2. Put the pot in an empty pot.
  3. Pour warm (+ 38-42 ° С) water into the container, about the level of one third of the pot.
  4. They are removed when the top layer of the soil darkens slightly.
  5. Pull out a pot of violet, put it on an inverted pan to drain the excess water.
  6. As soon as the liquid stops flowing, they return the flower to its usual place.

By this method, water does not fall directly on the violet itself. So the risk of disease or decay is minimal.

Wick method

Used for a long time, known to many. It has some inconvenience. In the cool season you need to carefully monitor the temperature of the water. But we know one secret that calmly fixes this problem. Why no source of this is indicated - science is not known.

 Wicky watering for violets

For the construction of the design will need:

  • a violet in a pot
  • low transparent container with a hole in the lid (4-5 cm high)
  • wooden stick, knitting needle, long thin tweezers
  • a piece of twine or cotton cord (about 9-12 cm)

Procedure. In the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot with a wooden stick or a needle (tweezers) you need to gently shove the cord or twine. Approximately 4 cm. Push the second end of the rope into the hole on the lid of the prepared container. This should be done in such a way that the bottom of the pot is tight and even on the lid. That is, the rest of the cord pass through until it stops.

Next, pour warm water into the container, lower the free end of the cord into it and close the lid tightly. On top there is a pot with violet.

And now the secret. So that the water does not cool for a long time, you need to put a plate of foam under the whole structure. Foamed construction substrate, thick insulation, woolen cloth, cork stand - all this also fit.The main task is to prevent the liquid from becoming cold as long as possible. Of course, in the cold season it is still necessary to check the water temperature, but much less frequently. And if you wrap the lower capacity of the insulation, you get almost a thermos. That's the whole trick.

In summer, all these preparations are unnecessary, the water itself does not cool for a long time.

This method is good because you do not have to check for dry earthen room. Violet itself will drink the right amount. And the excess of moisture is not terrible.

When to water

If there is no possibility or desire to arrange the above construction, then it is necessary to periodically determine the right moment when to water the plant. The easiest way to do this visually. Dry the top layer of soil? You can water the violet.

But some varieties require a little more drying earthen coma. In principle, you can gently pick the soil to a depth of 2-2.5 cm to search for moisture. But we recommend using a toothpick or a wooden skewer, so that by kupaniem in the pot does not damage the root system. You just need to stick it in the ground to the bottom, leave for a few minutes. Then pull out and see the level of humidity. Then it will be immediately clear - it is time to water or you can still wait.

What water violets need

The fact that you can not water the violets directly from the tap, even beginners know. And what if the other simply does not? How to make tap water suitable for irrigation? After all, not everyone has the opportunity to buy drinking or distill the existing one.

In general, everything is simple:

  1. Pour water into any dishes with a wide neck. You can even in a regular saucepan.
  2. Leave for a day. During this time, stirred twice, helping the free chlorine to evaporate faster.
  3. Next, boil the liquid for 1 minute, cool.
  4. Add citric acid at the rate of 3 crystals per 1 liter, mix thoroughly.
  5. An hour later, carefully poured from the sediment.

Water for watering violets ready. Instead of boiling, you can freeze the liquid for a day. Then thaw, bring to room temperature. Add the vinegar, drain the clean water. It's simple.

Council Directly before irrigation, heat the finished water to a temperature of + 38-42 ° С. It is this temperature that most like the violet root system.

Useful tips

 Watering violets

  1. The absence of twine or cord - not a reason to abandon the wick method. It can be replaced by a thin strip of cotton fabric or a thick woolen thread.
  2. If there is no suitable container with a lid, it does not matter. It is completely replaced by a jar or glass with a neck, the diameter of which is less than the diameter of the pot. The main thing is to make the design so that the bottom is not enough to the mirror of water.
  3. It should be borne in mind that the way to use the wick is not able to completely saturate the earthy ball in a large pot. For example, with a diameter of more than 9-9.5 cm.
  4. Do not use for watering violet thawed snow or rainwater. It can carry most elements of the periodic table, which is not at all beneficial for delicate plants. Even residents of ecologically safe regions cannot confidently assert that the rain was not acid.
  5. Some sources claim that in small communities tap water is quite suitable for watering violets. This is not true. In any water from the tap high content of plant unnecessary minerals and impurities. And in small towns, it is just as unsuitable for irrigation without preparation as in large cities.Treatment facilities differ only in size. Chemistry added to water is not equally useful for flowers everywhere.
  6. When the excess moisture leaves fade, roots begin to rot. At the first sign of an urgent need to transplant the plant in a new soil to save it. And some time to refrain from watering.

How to water a violet at home - such a question will no longer be relevant after reading our recommendations. Many refuse to start these lovely flowers precisely because of ignorance of the rules of watering. Now this will not be a problem. And you can calmly admire the beautiful flowering.
