In the modern world, the popularity of ties is growing rapidly and every year it is gaining more and more momentum. The accessory is worn not only by men, but also by women. It is not uncommon for ties to get dirty during meals. It can also be stained with ink or a marker. In such cases, the question of how to wash your favorite accessory at home, becomes extremely important. There are a number of rules for the care of a tie, consider them in order.
Preparatory activities
- Cut a piece of cardboard to the shape of a tie. Then wrap the template with scotch tape or polyethylene so as not to wet it with water in the future. Fill the form in the product.
- Tie a tie with thin thread to the cardboard in such a way that the fabric does not slip and does not move. Such actions will prevent creases on the product and its further deformation.
- If you wear a colored tie and it's time to wash it, wet the tip of the product and blot with gauze cloth. Such a move will allow you to see whether a thing sheds or not.
- Pick the right cleaning products, starting from the composition of the tie. The most commonly used is solid soap, “Amway” stain remover, gel powder, suitable for delicate items.
Tie washing rules
- People who prefer to wear classic clothes, including a tie, claim that you should not wash this attribute of wardrobe. Since after such manipulations he quickly becomes unusable.
- Such a statement is erroneous, since the tie is quite suitable for cleaning, but only under special conditions. The difference is that the accessory is very sensitive to highly concentrated substances. Any misstep will cost a new tie.
- It is not allowed to intensively rub the product with hands, crumple it up, wash it in a typewriter, soak it in the uncoordinated position. If you doubt your ability to clean your own tie, it is better to use the services of dry cleaning.
- Self-cleaning is possible in case of a small contamination of the item. It is not necessary to resort to a full wash, use a stain remover. After applying the product, wait until the stain begins to fade, then wipe the place of contamination with a slightly damp sponge.
- Read the instructions for the thing (what material it consists of, how to wash, at what temperature, etc.). In the case when the tie consists of 100% liquor, soak it at a temperature of 30-35 degrees in soapy water in the straightened state.
- Extend the thing at the same temperature in clean water, do not even try to press it. Use a little trick for long-term preservation of the novelty and color of the product. Pour 2 tablespoons of salt 2.5 liters. water, rinse the tie in the solution.
- If the tie consists of synthetics, separately beat the thick foam with water and washing liquid powder (gel). Apply foam, do not squeeze, rinse the product first in warm water, then in cold.
- After washing the tie, flatten it with your hands, do not squeeze, hang to dry on a clothesline. Secure the edge with a clothespin.
How to iron a tie
- If you have not previously encountered ironing ties, this is not a problem, you can do without a hot appliance. You will need to roll the product into a tube for several hours. The method is effective only with small bruises.
- The technology provides for steam treatment, if in the first case straightening with a tube did not help. Use a steam cleaner or an iron with a similar function. Such a thermal effect will relieve the tie from irregularities and folds. If the product is silk, keep a stream of steam no closer than 10 cm from the item.
- In extreme cases, ironing is provided. Take a slightly wet tie, heat the iron to minimum power. Then cover the thing with a wet gauze, iron the product in one direction, do not press the iron tightly. Sharp, intermittent movements are contraindicated, as a tie can curl and deteriorate permanently.
- Use the trick with a cardboard template: insert the product into a tie when ironing, so you will avoid all the irregularities and bumps from the seams. Run the procedure through a wet gauze cloth.
Tie storage
- At the end of the work day, be sure to dissolve the tie. Hang the product on a special hanger at a certain distance from other things. Such a move will straighten the tie, it will take its original shape.
- An anti-slip coating is applied on such a hanger, so there is no risk that the tie will fall. With the help of this kind of devices, delicate things are stored many times longer than on the shelf.
- In the case when you do not have time to stock up on such hangers, you can use a simpler and no less convenient way - twist the tie into a roll, send it to the closet.
- Every time you tighten the tie you should not make too strong knots. These manipulations adversely affect the material. Further, the tie is harder to straighten.
Practical recommendations
- In case you notice a slight pollution on the tie, you do not need to resort to a full wash. Use a special stain remover. Apply a small amount of the composition, wipe the thing after a while with a damp cotton pad, sponge. Then rinse off the foam with a warm water jet.
- Lemon juice will help get rid of uncomplicated stains.Table salt is effective against traces of red wine, lipstick, coffee. Ammonia (ammonia), hydrogen peroxide, dishwashing detergent is suitable for getting rid of any kinds of pollution.
- Silk ties after the main washing procedure should be brushed in slightly salty warm water. This procedure helps to maintain the original color and shine of the fabric.
- When using stain remover apply the composition that is intended for colored things. If you wash your tie in bright colors, do not worry, the tool will give shine, and not ruin the product.
- Do not erase at the same time several things, such a manipulation is better to perform consistently. Do not leave a tie soaked in the sink or container. Otherwise, the fabric may stretch, folds are formed.
- In case you made such an oversight, the thing stretched out, creases appeared on the fabric, after drying, treat it with iron steam or a special steamer.
- Try to erase delicate things as rarely as possible. Such products do not withstand the frequent effects of detergents and quickly lose their original appearance.
It is easy to wash a tie at home, if you follow the step-by-step instructions and key features. First of all, prepare a template from cardboard, wrap it with polyethylene, protecting it from moisture. Pick up a gentle detergent. Manipulate exclusively by hand, read the fabric composition. Do a full wash of a delicate item only in extreme cases. Keep the tie properly, to protect it from deformation.
