How to wash a blanket at home

The plaid is a wonderful warm product that warms up the winter and autumn evenings. Every thing is unique in its own way. Blankets are different material manufacturing, size, shape, wear resistance. Natural fibers absorb dust quickly and are harder to clean. Synthetic plaids enough to load into the washing machine and voila, everything is ready.

 How to wash a blanket

Washing plaid hands

It is known that not every thing can be sent to a washing machine. This is due to the material and size. Large products simply do not fit in the drum. In such a situation, the only way out is hand washing.

Processing in this way can be subjected to a blanket made from virtually any fabric. However, if the product is made of cashmere, fur (artificial or natural), hand washing is the only possible option.

There are 2 basic rules for processing plaid. First, the water temperature should not be too high (more than 35 degrees).Secondly, it is categorically not recommended to subject the blanket to mechanical stress (squeezing, sagging, etc.).

The wash consists of the following steps:

  1. Conduct a preliminary inspection of the product. If you notice dirt, grease or ballpoint pen, lock the thing in advance. Use laundry soap or dishwashing liquid. Wait a third of an hour, wash it off.
  2. Now rinse the bath, pour water into it. You can use the pelvis if the blanket is not that big. Fluid temperature should not exceed 35 degrees. If the product has a label, follow it.
  3. Washing the plaid is carried out using shampoo, dishwashing gel or special liquid powder for cashmere, wool or other types of material from which the plaid is made. Pour some cleaning agent into the bath and foam it with your hands.
  4. Send the blanket to the solution, "drown" it completely, note the time. You need to wait 3 hours. Once every 30 minutes, rinse the product and crush it with your hands, but do not twist it. Gently rub contaminated areas. Some housewives are in the bath clean feet and trample thing.
  5. When the time is up, fold the rug into a pile, drain the soap solution. Optionally re-soak (optional). Spread the blanket in the entire length of the bath, take water inside. Rinse to remove foam.
  6. At this stage you should be patient. Drain and collect water again until the liquid is completely clear and clear. After all the manipulations, leave the blanket out of the water for half an hour.
  7. When the residual moisture is gone, start to roll the thing roll. This is a pushup. Many people prefer to fold the plaid with a pile or lean against the wall, as you like. The liquid drains 30-60 minutes, wait until the end of the process.
  8. Now move the rug, without unwinding, to the side wall of the bath. Substitute the basin so that water does not drip onto the floor. Wait a moment until the liquid stops flowing completely. Rotate the product periodically.
  9. When the blanket drains, you need to dry it. In order to avoid the appearance of wrinkles and distortion of the form, the product is displayed on a clean horizontal surface (table, floor, etc.).
  10. In the case when it is not possible to lay out, carefully hang on a few ropes.Avoid direct sunlight, periodically approach and change sides. Each part must be ventilated.

Washing the plaid in a typewriter

Washing, or household, machine allows you to wash plaids of small sizes. Most often, this category includes children's and fleece products that easily fit into the drum cavity.

You do not have to be particularly sophisticated, the home appliance will do everything on its own. The main thing is to choose a mode suitable for the type of fabric (duration, temperature of water heating), add the appropriate liquid detergent.

Again, look at the label on things. If the blanket is woolen, you should set a spin speed of no more than 300 units. For other materials - no higher than 400 revolutions. If you set a different indicator, the blanket will lose its shape.

Washing includes the following steps:

  1. Make sure the device is plugged in and working properly. Load the blanket into the drum cavity. Use only liquid powder for washing, it does not get stuck in a pile and is easily washed out. Pour the composition into the appropriate compartment of the machine.
  2. If you are washing a colored plaid or delicate items, do not use a whitening detergent in any case.Be sure to add a rinse-conditioner, which will give things a soft and pleasant smell.
  3. For all blankets, without exception, should be put sparing washing program. Suitable for “delicate”, “manual” or “wool”. Water temperature should not exceed 35 degrees. Expose a program that does not have a spin at all or implies a minimum indicator of speed.
  4. Immediately turn off the "drying" mode, if available. After the preparatory activities, click "Start", wait for the completion of the machine wash. Drying is carried out in a horizontal position or suspended.
  5. People who live in a big city, it is better to use the self-service laundry. In such institutions there are industrial machines, they allow you to wash the overall blankets.

Care for a blanket of various materials

Care for a blanket of various materials

Microfiber

  1. You can wash the product by hand or in a typewriter. In the case of the latter, do not set the water temperature to above 60 degrees.
  2. Prefer powder liquid form. The granular composition is hammered into a pile and makes the thing stiff.
  3. Carry out drying in a suspended or horizontal state, avoiding exposure to UV rays.

Fleece

  1. Fleece blankets can be cleaned by hand or using a washing machine. Above all, before wet processing do not soak the thing in the bathroom, because the material does not absorb pollution.
  2. Hand wash is carried out without any special detergents. Suitable solution of household soap. Water temperature should not exceed 35 degrees.
  3. If your blanket is clean, with no visible dirt, put it in warm water and rinse several times. Start drying.
  4. Fleece is famous for its fast drying. After washing, flatten the product and let it lie down. So you eliminate creases and eliminate the need for ironing.
  5. If washing will be carried out in a typewriter, set the function “fleece”, “hand wash” or “delicate wash”. Do not handle the thing with other products, do not load the cavity of the drum "to the eyeballs".
  6. When machine washable fabric rinse should not be added, exactly like bleaching agents. The first option violates the water repellent function of fleece, the second - spoils the structure of fibers.

Natural materials
Natural materials include cotton, flax, cashmere, wool, silk. Of all the listed fabrics can be made plaid.

  1. Cotton and linen are washed in a typewriter or by hand at a temperature of 40 degrees. Detergents are used liquid and sparing (without chlorine). If possible, buy a gel to maintain color. To remove the folds, smooth the rug after washing in a slightly damp state.
  2. As for wool, silk, cashmere, these types of fabrics can be processed only manually using cold water (no more than 30 degrees). At the stage of rinsing air conditioner rinse is added. The washing itself is carried out with a liquid gel marked "for silk" (wool, cashmere, etc.). Categorically it is impossible to press and iron such products.
  3. If the blanket is made of fur (whether natural or artificial), knock the thing out before washing. Make sure no dirt is stuck in the pile. Wet treatment of oily stains with vinegar. Washing itself is carried out with the help of shampoo for natural or artificial fur.

There are two main options for washing plaid - machine and manual treatment. Each product has a label with manufacturer recommendations.they must be followed strictly. Before the main manipulations, find out what type of fabric is made thing. Synthetics will withstand everything, but natural fibers require a more scrupulous approach.
