Pain is always an unpleasant, disturbing, disturbing feeling. Toothache often has high intensity and is simply unbearable. To consult a dentist is not always possible, as in this case, get rid of this feeling? When it is possible to resort to the help of analgin, and when it is better to refuse it? For a start, it’s worth dealing with the cause of the pain.
Why is toothache always intense
You probably know such a situation when at first a tooth hurts only from cold and hot, then from sweet, then it whines a little towards evening, and after the pain becomes constant and unbearable. Where did such unpleasant feelings come from?
The teeth are innervated by the branches of the trigeminal nerve. It provides the sensitivity of the entire face, the external auditory canal, the meninges, the upper and lower jaw.The stronger the tooth is affected, the more structures of the trigeminal nerve are involved in the process. In addition, with long-term extensive lesions, pain can spread to other innervation zones. Then it seems that with the tooth hurts ear, half of the face, head. The light seems too bright, the sound too loud. These symptoms suggest that the pathological process has reached its maximum and it is necessary to urgently turn to a dentist.
The intensity of toothache suggests that the tooth is affected by an acute inflammatory process. If the inflammation is chronic, the pain will be nagging or aching, but will never have greater intensity.
Causes of Toothache
Sometimes the pain causes an increased sensitivity of the tooth and periodontal tissues, but then the discomfort occurs only at the time of the meal, for example, too hot or cold. Fighting such pain with pills is pointless, as it passes on its own in a few minutes.
Much more interest is caused by pain resulting from inflammation. In this case, the branches of the trigeminal nerve are compressed by edematous tissues, which is why unpleasant sensations occur. There are several types of inflammation that cause toothache:
- Caries. The most common cause of toothache. The exact etiology of this process is not yet known, but pathogenic bacteria play a significant role in the pathogenesis. These microorganisms are eating away hard tooth tissues. Pain occurs when the lower layers of the dentin are affected. However, with caries, toothache is not spontaneous, there are always certain irritants, most often food.
- Pulpitis. This is a complication of caries, one of the most adverse outcomes of the process. When pulpitis occurs inflammation in the soft tissues of the tooth, where the nerves directly pass. Therefore, when the process moves to the pulp there is a sharp pain that is difficult to stop with the help of drugs. It is this intense toothache that can be given to the ear, spread up the face, and lead to a headache.
- Gingivitis. So called gum disease. It rarely leads to intense pain, often manifests by pulling or aching sensations in the region of one or more teeth. Often there is a feeling that something is interfering in the oral cavity, sometimes small bleeding occurs.
- Periodontitis This is not only unpleasant, but also a dangerous inflammatory process. It occurs when the infection spreads from the tissues of the tooth to the surrounding ligaments, as well as to the bone of the jaw itself. Because of this, there is acute intolerable pain with a clear localization, it happens that it is impossible to close the jaw because of intense pain when pressing on the tooth. In addition, the temperature may rise significantly, the tooth begins to loosen. This type of inflammation can lead to many life-threatening complications.
Sometimes a toothache may occur due to a visit to the dentist, for example, after filling a carious tooth. This is a completely normal phenomenon, you can take a few days analgesics, after which the discomfort disappears.
How does analgin for toothache
Analgin or metamizole sodium belongs to the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and non-narcotic painkillers. The drug is available in tablets, its advantage is that it dissolves quickly in the digestive tract and is absorbed into the blood. The onset of analgesia can be seen already within the first hour after ingestion. What happens in this moment in the body?
Analgin blocks the biochemical processes that support inflammation, reduces the amount of prostaglandins in the pathological focus. This helps to reduce edema and, as a result, reduces pain. However, with intense pain, this effect may not be enough and the discomfort will not completely disappear. In this case, you will have to resort to the help of stronger analgesics of the new generation, for example, lornoxicam.
How and when to take analgin
It should be remembered that analgin is not a treatment for toothache. It is important to eliminate the cause so that later no life-threatening complications arise. In addition, timely treatment will help save the tooth and provide a beautiful smile for a long time. If you have a toothache, you should consult a doctor as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, this possibility is far from always. If we take into account that teeth often hurt in the evening and at night, when dentists do not work, taking painkillers can be considered justified. Analgin can be taken as follows:
- Pills. The dosage of each pill is 0.25 g or 0.5 g; you can drink one pill two or three times a day. However, the daily dose should not exceed 1g. To use inside, after food, washing down with a small amount of water.
- Injection. Analgin is sold in ampoules of 1 and 2 ml as a solution at a concentration of 25% and 50%. Injections should be given intramuscularly 2-3 times a day. The daily dose should not exceed 1 g of the active substance.
Analgin should not be taken immediately before going to the dentist. In dentistry, anesthetics such as Novocain, Lidocaine, Ultracain are often used. Analgin interferes with the action of these substances, which can slow the onset of anesthesia. If you still drink analgin, be sure to warn your doctor about this.
Side effects of analgin
This drug, like any other, is not harmless. Analgin has a lot of side effects. This is due to the fact that prostaglandins, leukotrienes and thromboxanes, the number of which reduces analgin, are involved in many vital reactions of the body.
Under the action of dipyrone reduced blood clotting, which on the one hand, is useful when there is a threat of thrombus formation, and on the other, it can lead to bleeding. In addition, prolonged use of this drug can cause stomach ulcers and duodenal ulcers, as well as cause renal failure. A possible hypersensitivity reaction to the components of the drug, which is manifested by urticaria, angioedema and bronchial asthma.
The drug is contraindicated in people with hepatic and renal insufficiency, any diseases of the blood-forming organs and individual intolerance.
Remember: to take analgin for toothache is possible only in emergency cases when it is not possible to consult a dentist.
