Potted bamboo called dracenu Sander. An evergreen ornamental shrub is unpretentious, normally tolerates temperature changes and takes root in any soil. The main thing is to regularly water the plant and provide it with normal lighting.

 How to care for bamboo

Water or soil

The soil intended for the exotic dragon, must pass moisture and air. Suitable universal substrate for indoor plants, which are sold in flower shops. It is quite loose and contains nutrients. You can buy a special composition for dracen.

At home, it is recommended to mix sand with sod or clay soil. Substrate brought from the garden or forest, calcined in the oven.Weed spores and insect eggs die due to high temperatures. In the ground for indoor bamboo, humus is sometimes added to saturate it with nutrients. Peat is not used. The component retains too much moisture, which rots the root system.

The pot in which the bamboo will grow, is filled with a quarter of the drainage material. Expanded clay, large pebbles, broken brick or clay shards. The lower layer absorbs and removes excess water, protecting the dracaena Sander from mold.

The ornamental shrub grows not only in the ground, but also in water. They buy not too deep, but a wide vase, which is filled with a quarter by pebbles. Transparent tanks of a rectangular or oval form harmoniously fit into an interior. In the pot for dracaeni pour melt water. In winter, it is obtained from snow or icicles. In the summer they take a two-liter bottle, rinse and fill with water from the tap. Place in the freezer and wait for the liquid to turn into ice. The container is taken out and left next to the battery. The melt water is poured into a vase, an ornamental shrub is placed in the dishes.

The fluid in the translucent pot is changed once a week.Indoor bamboo gets enough moisture and is actively growing. Some specimens reach a height of 1.5–2 m. The main thing is to regularly add mineral fertilizers to water, because there are no nutrients in liquid soil. If the pot has a foul odor, several tablets of activated charcoal are added to it. The sorbent cleans from impurities and does not allow the fungus to multiply.

Bamboo shoots are grown in a special gel. The dense base retains moisture in the roots and protects against fungal diseases. Color fillers look beautiful and original. The only drawback is the lack of trace elements. The gel will have to be fertilized regularly to keep the dracaena healthy and actively growing.

Sunlight and temperature

Bamboo in winter does not hibernate. The plant from November to April is illuminated with special lamps. Lower leaves dracaena due to the lack of ultraviolet yellow and fall off. Lighting devices are placed at a distance of 35–45 cm from the pot so that the artificial rays do not burn the ornamental shrub.

 Decorative bamboo

From April to November, the plant does not need additional sources of ultraviolet radiation.Pot with indoor bamboo put on the east or west window sill. You can move the pot with dratsena on the cabinet or a special stand. The windows are covered with tulle. Translucent fabric scatters and softens the sun's rays, so that they warm, but do not burn the plant.

Room bamboo loves warmth. Indoors support from +18 to +25 degrees in the winter and in the summer. Dracaena will not fade if the thermometer indicates + 13-14. At sub-zero temperatures, the plant’s immunity decreases, and the leaves turn yellow and fall off.

Watering

Decorative bamboo can not be sprayed. Droplets of moisture accumulate on the stems, causing rot. In the summer, a wide plate or cup filled with cool water or ice is placed next to the pot. The liquid gradually evaporates, increasing the humidity of the air on the window sill. It creates a tropical climate. The leaves and stem are also rubbed 2-3 times a week with a porous sponge or cotton pad. A soft cloth removes dust and moisturizes indoor bamboo.

The plant is watered with rain or melt water. Plain contains many harmful impurities. Heavy metals accumulate in the root system, slowing down photosynthesis.The bamboo becomes pale, the leaves become deformed, and the plant's immunity decreases. Rainwater is also recommended to defend 2-3 days. During this time, the impurities that are contained in it, settle.

In spring and summer, watering should be abundant. In winter, it is reduced or simply transplanted bamboo in a container with water so that the plant independently controls the amount of fluid produced. The dragon tree cannot be poured, otherwise mold will start in the ground.

If the earth begins to exude a strange putrid odor, watering is stopped. Renew when the substrate dries. The soil is covered with white or gray bloom, completely replaced, and the bamboo roots are washed and disinfected.

Melt water poured into the pan. Bamboo roots absorb as much moisture as the plant needs. Liquid residues are poured out after 3-4 hours. Stagnant water is a source of infectious diseases and mold.

Fertilizer and transplant

Yellowed leaves - a signal that the dracaena lacks nutrients. The plant remains green and strong if regularly receives mineral fertilizers. The first feed is made in March.In spring, the growth of stems and cuttings is activated, suitable for propagation of the indoor flower. Bamboo will love lawn fertilizer or special formulations for dracaenas. Pick up the drug will help in flower shops.

The growth of shoots is activated by nitrogen, and the stems are strengthened with potassium. The plant can receive micro-and macronutrients from organic fertilizers:

  • horse or cow dung;
  • chicken litter;
  • wood ash.

Feeds of animal origin are also sold in flower shops in the form of granules. Dry billet is dissolved in water, insist a few days. Concentrated feed is dissolved in a liquid for irrigation and applied to the soil.

Bamboo is not fertilized within 3 weeks after transplantation. The plant adapts to new conditions, and feeding only slows down addiction to the soil or water.

In the middle of summer make a mixture of nitrogen and potassium, add a little phosphorus. In June-August, the root system is actively developing. In the fall, bamboo growth slows. In September or October, phosphorus and potassium are used, reducing the amount of nitrogenous components. You can replace store fertilizer wood ash.The powder is added to water or sprinkled on the ground around the bamboo. The component not only supplies ornamental sprouts with nutrients, but also disinfects the soil. Ash protects against mildew, pests and diseases.

Young bushes are transplanted annually in more spacious pots. Dracaena has a thick root system, which needs a lot of space. Choose deep and wide tanks with drainage holes. Suitable clay, plastic and glass pots. Transplantation is carried out in the spring after 2-3 weeks after fertilization.

The soil in the old pot is soaked and taken out with the plant. Lump of substrate and root system is transferred to a new pot. The tank is filled with expanded clay and soil, which is slightly tamped. The roots of bamboo gently straighten and measure the distance between the shoots and the walls of the pot. It should be at least 5-6 cm. If the pot is large enough, the base of the plant is covered with earth.

Ornamental shrubs after transplanting abundantly watered to speed up the adaptation. Bamboo for several days removed in the shade. Relaxed indoor flower contraindicated sunbathing. Fertilize dragonza can not.Make-up is made only after 3-4 weeks after transplantation. In a similar way, shoots grown in water are transferred to the substrate.

Bamboo diseases and bush formation

Spider mites, thrips and fungus attack the dragon tree. Symptoms of infection with insects:

 Bamboo disease

  • yellowed and twisted leaves;
  • brown or black dots on the indoor flower;
  • web.

Bamboo, struck with ticks or thrips, washed under a tap. Leaves before the water treatment process with soapy water. After bathing the earth is sprinkled with wood ash. Damaged shoots and yellowed parts of the stem are removed with a sharp knife. Sections are treated with activated carbon to protect against infections and decay.

Leaves covered with dark small spots indicate a fungus. Patient dracaena transplanted into clean water or a pot of calcined earth, and then treated with fungicides. Rotten roots are cut, sprinkled with activated charcoal or wood ash. The room in which the bamboo is located is regularly aired. Indoor flower protect from drafts and low temperatures.

Frozen plant leaves become dark and soft.If the room is cool, a pot of bamboo is moved to the battery or next to a table lamp.

Shoots dracaena empty inside and elastic. The sprouts are drawn up, but if you stick a rod into the ground or pebbles, they will clasp around the base, like a vine. The result is a bamboo in the shape of a spiral. Straight shoots tied with ribbons and ropes to create a thick tree with a lush crown of oblong leaves.

The recession to Sander is considered a magical plant that attracts wealth. Indoor bamboo is used for the decoration of apartments and office premises, as unpretentious shoots grow in almost any conditions. The main thing is to protect the decorative flower from direct sunlight, drafts and timely fertilize.
