How to pull a tick from a person at home

With the arrival of warm days, few of the citizens are in no hurry to the nature. Parks, forests, gardens and groves - these are the favorite places that each of us loves to visit. However, outdoor recreation brings not only joy, satisfaction and fun. Often, picnics are overshadowed by unpleasant insects - ticks.

How to pull a tick from a person

The tick is one of the oldest insects, which has more than forty thousand subspecies. Most ticks feed on the smallest organisms, fungal spores, plant foods. Only a few species of these insects drink the blood of animals and people.

Ticks live in forest-park zones, they settle in the grass and on shrubs. Most often, ticks are located along the paths, which are walked by people and pets. The insect feels the approach of a person due to its incredibly sensitive sense of smell. If you are from a tick at a distance of 8-10 meters, he already knows about your approach. The tick is conveniently located at the ends of the blades of grass and when touched it snaps tightly on your clothes.

Tick bites a person not immediately, first he needs to choose a suitable place for this. Most often, tick bites fall on the scalp, neck, shoulders, internal folds of the knees and elbows - that is, places with thin skin. The tick slowly rises to the head along the leg and, having chosen a suitable place, firmly sticks to your skin. His proboscis is like a very thin bolt, which is screwed into the skin, getting to the delicacy of blood. The person does not feel the bite, because painkillers are present in the mite's saliva. The body of the bloodsucker is flat and small, but after the meal, the tick inflates and increases at times. When the insect gets drunk with blood, it falls off from the skin itself. However, in most cases, a person discovers a bloodsucker before he is full.

What are dangerous tick bites?

The fact is that ticks are carriers of a huge number of diseases and infections.According to statistics, every tenth tick is potentially dangerous. Biting one person with an infectious disease, and then glaring into the blood of the second person, the tick easily transfers pathogenic bacteria from one organism to another. The greatest danger is encephalitis, which is successfully carried by ticks. The disease at the beginning is similar to the common cold - an ache in the joints, weakness, fever. As the disease progresses, the nervous system is affected, paralysis may occur, signs of epilepsy appear.

In addition to encephalitis, a person after a tick bite can become infected with monocytic ehrlichiosis, Lyme disease. All these diseases are extremely dangerous and in the absence of timely medical care can be fatal. Along with this, each person can individually respond to an insect bite. An allergic reaction can manifest vomiting, rash, fever. That is why it is so important to seek medical attention immediately after a tick bite. And if possible, bring an insect to the laboratory for research.

How to pull a tick yourself

Of course, the best doctor will cope with this task. However, most often mites stick to humans in nature when there are no medical facilities nearby. In this case, you need to be able to provide medical care in a timely and competent manner. So, how to pull a tick from a person at home?

Thread
Sometimes in traveling conditions there is no tweezers or clamping at hand. Then the usual thread will do. Make a small loop and drop a tick. Tighten the loop so that it is at the very base of the insect's proboscis. After that, carefully pull out the bloodsucker in circular motions. Do not pull so that the proboscis does not remain under the skin!

Arms
If the situation requires a quick solution, you can pull the tick with your hands, or rather, with your fingernails. Gently grab the insect closer to the proboscis and twist, as in previous methods of extracting bloodsuckers with tweezers or thread. Be careful not to squeeze the tick with your fingers. Otherwise, it can inject even more poison into the skin.

Syringe
This is another way to safely extract the tick. To implement it, we need an ordinary medical syringe without a needle. At the syringe you need to cut off the upper part, where the needle is attached. The cut should be as smooth as possible so that it fits snugly to the body.Carefully put the cap on the insect, and then pull the plunger back. Inside the syringe there will be a vacuum, which will extract the bloodsucker.

Tweezers
When you take out a tick, it is important to remember that it should be done carefully and carefully, so that its proboscis completely comes out, and does not come off and does not remain in the skin. The medical clamp is the best choice. It has sharp edges that can tightly capture an insect. Instead of clamping, you can use simple tweezers, which can be found in every woman’s cosmetics bag, even in field conditions. Pinch the tick tightly, but not tightly, otherwise you can just crush it. Grab the bloodsucker closer to the proboscis. You do not need to pull it out, the screwed trunk can simply come off. You need to gently rotate the insect around the axis to remove it with the proboscis.

 How to pull tick tweezers

To date, the pharmacy has special tools in the form of curved tweezers. They are designed to safely remove ticks. When going hiking or camping, do not forget to put this necessary thing in the travel kit.

After extraction

Remember that the entire procedure should be as safe as possible for you. Before you remove the mite with improvised means, you need to disinfect all devices that will come into contact with an open wound.

After extraction, the wound should be disinfected. To do this, treat it with iodine, potassium permanganate, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol or other antiseptics. If while removing a part of the tick (its head or proboscis) remained inside the skin, additional measures should be taken. To do this, take the disinfected needle and carefully remove the foreign body from the skin, like a splinter. Treat the wound and consult a doctor in order to eliminate the possibility of infection with serious diseases that the tick suffers.

The insect itself can be burned, drowned or delivered to the study. To do this, it is placed in a jar with a small amount of water so that the bloodsucker can live to the laboratory.

Is it possible to pour mites with oil

It is believed that in order to extract the tick, it is necessary to pour vegetable oil. At the same time he suffocates and releases the skin himself. Indeed, a tick cannot be without air for a long time and he does not like such a procedure. However, doctors are not advised to use this method of insect extraction.

The fact is that when a tick gets drunk with vegetable oil, it can simply spew it. And since its proboscis is in your skin, the oil along with the poison is injected into your blood. This is extremely dangerous. Also, do not use liquid ammonia and other compounds to remove the tick.

How to protect yourself from tick bites

In order not to get caught by this bloodsucker, you need to follow some precautions. When going to the nature, wear closed clothes, tie the sleeves with ribbons, put your pants in socks, put a scarf around your neck, do not forget to wear a hat. Regularly inspect your skin and clothes, the path of the tick is long enough and you can throw it off before it even has time to drink your blood. If you have children with you, every hour, inspect their skin and clothing. After all, children most easily catch these insects, because they walk on the grass, and not on the path.

Before you sit on the grass, be sure to lay a blanket. For a picnic, use special sprays, ointments and lotions that will help you scare off ticks and other annoying insects.

And further. Before the summer season, it would be nice to be vaccinated against encephalitis. It will help you protect yourself from the probable disease that mites carry.

Forewarned is forearmed. Knowing where ticks live, how dangerous they are and how to get them out of a person’s skin is priceless. Take all precautions, act correctly and quickly to protect yourself and your children from tick bites.
