The clocks are known to people who have ever been to Lake Baikal at least once. Also, these birds prefer to live in Asian countries. Previously, they were in such an incalculable amount that they did not attach much importance. Clotun

Habitat and features

Nests of these individuals can be found in the northern latitudes of our country. They live preferably in Siberia in the east and west. When the period of nest building and breeding begins, the birds stop at water bodies and lakes. During the winter they fly to warmer regions, for example, South Korea, Japan, and China.

Couples add up in the wintering process. Individuals find each other, then return to their spaces and begin to nest. This usually happens at the end of spring. They build a house under a sprawling willow or in the place where the nest will be hidden from predators and human eyes.

Since these birds are practically not amenable to study, it is difficult to say for sure how their mating season occurs. Hidden way of life does not allow specialists to study everything in detail. When nesting ends, adults lose their plumage and cannot fly. This complicates their lives, and also enters the risk zone.

During the molting, the representatives of the male sex are similar in color to the females. The color of the plumage is similar to the protective one; therefore, the birds easily mask themselves among the thickets. Immediately after nesting, males are molted, and females are later in the process of raising offspring. At this time, ducks are very susceptible and alert, often becoming prey for hunters or predators.

Description

These birds do not belong to large-sized ones, because their body is hardly 23 cm in length with a mass of 0.6 kg.They are famous for their speed of flight, they prefer not to fly too high into the sky. Birds are remembered, from their family they are somewhat larger than other teals.

In terms of their shade, bird plumage is such that ocher and greenish colors predominate in the tone. The females are more modestly dressed, they are rather brownish with dark edging over the feathers. On the beak of the female there are whitish specks.

In the area of the eyes, a dark strip is clearly visible, and a little higher - a light one. These representatives of the species got their name, because they make sounds like “Kloklo”.
