Amethyst varnish appearance

In young fungi, the amethyst caps have a hemispherical shape, but as they mature, the cap straightens and its surface becomes flat. The caps of the fungus have a small diameter and grow from 1 to 5 cm. On the surface of the cap there are almost imperceptible scars and light strokes on the edge.

Young fungi have a bright lilac color, but over time the surface of the cap fades. The old mushroom hat is not so bright, and with age becomes faded pinkish tint. The hat gets the same dull shade in dry weather. The inside of the mushroom cap has a soft texture, and the flesh itself is also colored lilac. The core of the pulp has a delicate texture and a pleasant aroma.

Below under the hat of the mushroom are seen thin and sparse plates that are attached to the mushroom leg. The plates are colored lilac, however, the more the fungus ages, the more whitish and light they become. Spore powder has a white or slightly purple hue.

The leg of the lilac pot has a cylindrical fibrous surface. The inside of the leg has a hollow space, on the surface of the leg there are visible light fibers. The base of the stem also has a purple hue. The mushroom stem can grow on average from 3 to 10 cm in length, the width of the leg is only 0.8 cm.

The inside of the fungus in the section also has a mauve color. The pulp is slightly watery, thin to the touch. From the mushroom comes a pleasant aroma and delicate flavor. The structure of the leg is coarser and fibrous along the entire length, more dry and stiff than the cap.

Edibility lacquer lilac

Amethyst varnish is usually attributed to mushrooms suitable for food use. Lakovitsa is included in the list of edible mushrooms of the 4th category. However, for the preparation of dishes usually use only mushroom caps. Therefore, inexperienced mushroom pickers should remember the main rule: put only the caps of this mushroom in the basket. Experienced chefs often use lacquer in combination with other types of mushrooms, adding it to all sorts of dishes. This variety makes excellent roasts.

Note! It is known that the fruit body of a lacquer can accumulate arsenic and other harmful substances that are present in the ground. Because of its ability to absorb all the harmful components of the soil, mushrooms are used in cooking in small quantities. That is why they are more often combined with other edible varieties as a culinary platter.

Growth areas and growth period

Growth areas and growth period of amethyst varnish
Lacovica lilac grows on moist soil, where there is a lot of moss and a lot of forest is concentrated. You can usually find it under coniferous trees. But it also grows in areas with mixed and deciduous forests, next to beech and oak trees. Sometimes lakovitsa occurs immediately as a whole family, forming a small mushroom group. This specimen begins to appear in the forest from mid-summer and grows until mid-autumn. Therefore, mushroom pickers should stock up on baskets, and already in July, boldly go for prey.

The bright and quickly catchy glitch is a frequent visitor in the woods. Her caps are very clearly visible on the forest floor and among green moss, especially in wet places. Going for the amethyst varnish in the forest, inexperienced mushroom pickers should learn to distinguish it from poisonous and kindred relatives.

Related and poisonous twins

It is most dangerous to confuse the amethyst lacquer with its poisonous congener - Mitsa Pure or Mycena pura in Latin. This hallucinogenic fungus usually grows in the same area as the lacquer of purple. This poisonous twin also has a purple cap color with some brown tint. The main difference of pure mycene is its white, sometimes grayish plates and the characteristic rare aroma.

Also, the similar color of the purple spider web at first glance can fool inexperienced mushroom pickers. However, this edible type of fungus has a more massive and larger form. In addition, the spider web purple plate under the cap is covered with a fibrous veil. In adulthood, the purple spider's hat becomes brown. Also in very dry weather, when the caps of a lilac pot become more faded, it can be confused with another edible specimen, a pink pink.
