Serpentine routine of life

Parenting
Mangrove snake does not have a specific time for mating games. The bulk falls in the spring, but mating is possible throughout the year. Female builds a nest on the ground, covering the clutch with leaves. It is from 4 to 15 eggs. As soon as the eggs are safely hidden, the snake considers its duties fulfilled and does not return to the nest anymore. Left to themselves, they lie for about 90 to 100 days, storing embryos behind the leathery skin and then fully formed small snakes. After they leave the egg, they are completely independent and do not need care for adults. In the first days of life, insects become their main food.
Young snakes survive the first molt at the age of 10 days, gradually increasing their weight and body length and switching to an adult nutrition system.

The mangrove snake, in spite of its defiant coloring, does not like to be in the center of attention and many aspects of its life are still unexplored. But some facts are of interest, for example:
