The Asian cat breed Meckong bobtail is considered an aristocrat of the feline world. If we talk about the myths of the area, which is considered the birthplace of these cats, namely, Siam, then these pedigreed cats are depicted in jewelry that Thai princesses wear. And these jewels they wore only on the tail. But the legends about these cats do not end there.

Breed history

Representatives of this breed were used as vaz custodians in ancient temples - on the territory of the southeast Asian continent. Upon departure to her homeland, namely, to England, the king himself gave her such a gift. After some time, the king gave two more cats to one of the English ambassadors.

The modern history of Mekong bobtails began quite recently. In 2003, people noticed some differences between these cats and Thai representatives, and therefore decided to separate them into a different look. In fact, this is a misconception, because not a single cat of this breed, born without this part of the body, has yet been noted. That is why they bear such a name - Mekong bobtail, where bobtail is translated as “short tail”, but not tailless. If you look closely, then this short tail of each animal is unique. They have bends with kinks that no longer recur in any form. Therefore, to meet the same Mekong bobtails is impossible. To see this, you can compare photos of different representatives of this breed. And if you still have the opportunity to touch, then it turns out that each of them has its own nodes, vertebrae. But its length can not exceed the fourth part of the cat's body. Despite its size, it can still swing it like a regular long-tailed cat.
