Similarity

  1. The fruit bodies presented are very similar to truffles, hence the second name. As for edible specimens, among them is worth noting the white (Italian) truffle. This fruit body is a delicacy in the northern part of Italy.
  2. The sizes of white truffles can be from 2 to 12 cm. At the same time the weight can reach up to 0.3 kg. The delicacy has an uneven surface. The skin is velvety and is colored with a gray-ocher or brown color. The flesh has a dense structure. It is painted in whitish or yellow-gray color.
  3. The white truffle at cut has a marble pattern on the pulp. Taste and aroma can be compared with garlic and cheese.Real truffles form mycorrhiza with poplars, willows, lindens and oaks. Mushrooms tend to grow in deciduous forests.

Melanogaster is a rather interesting fruit body. This mushroom looks like an edible truffle, which is an expensive delicacy. The specimen in question is not edible.
