general description

Hat representatives of this species initially has an egg shape, but over time it takes the form of a bell. At the same time, the cap is practically not fully revealed. Its diameter varies in the range of 1-4 cm. The hat of the fluttering dung beetle is colored yellowish-brown. Frequent creases are visible on the surface. The name flickering this species was due to the fact that there is a mass of scales on the bonnet, which in sunny weather can shine and sparkle. But they are washed away with water, because after the rain the mushroom will no longer shine so well.

The plates under the cap are often located. The young fungus, they have a light shade, but darken over time. In the old mushroom, these plates are practical black, and are subject to decomposition. But this decomposition is not as intensely expressed as that of a white dung beetle.

These mushrooms spore powder has a brownish-black hue. The leg is long and thick in relation to the cap. Inside it is hollow. The surface is white. The upper part of the leg has a smooth surface, and the lower - more silky. The ring is missing.

Where grows

The fruiting period of this species is quite long. It begins in spring and ends only in autumn. You can see them on a rotting tree. As a rule, a cluster of shimmering dung beetles grows nearby. On coniferous trees you will hardly see them, so it can be assumed that the mushroom prefers to grow only on deciduous trees.

Is it possible to eat?

In food dung shit can be eaten only if the fungus is still young. This applies not only to this species, but also to other dung beetles. But this type does not possess high tastes. For eating it is better to give preference to white dung beetle, which tastes much better.

The use of young mushrooms only due to the fact that some of its parts are decomposed. Therefore, it is possible to collect only those mushrooms in which the plates are still light. After 1-2 hours after the litter of the fungus, it is necessary to start cooking When cooking it is not recommended to mix it with other species. Before cooking, they need to boil for about 20 minutes. After that, the water is drained, and the mushroom is prepared by any method desired. It is boiled or fried. Often dung beater marinating or added to the soup.

Other types of dung beetles

There are lots of types of dung beetles. It is impossible to say exactly how many of them there are today, as scientists often eliminate some species, or decide that the species should belong to another family.

  1. Dwarf hairy. This mushroom can not be eaten. The cap has a spindle shape, but the very next day it takes the form of a bell. And after a while it becomes almost flat. Even at the stage of the bell shaped form, the cap begins to decompose. White flakes of small size are seen on the surface. The pulp of the fungus is fragile, the leg is usually curved and has scales. The period of fruiting begins in the summer and lasts until the autumn.Mushroom grows on decaying trees or pasture, where the soil is fertilized with manure. The body of the fungus develops rapidly and fades.
  2. Folded inlets are also unsuitable for consumption. At first the cap is convex, and then it takes the form of a semi-hidden umbrella. It has a yellow color, because of the plates the surface of the cap is in the folds. The leg is white, thin, has a smooth surface.

These mushrooms grow from late spring to mid-autumn. You can see them in the meadow.
