Bamboo pillows - the pros and cons

More recently, there were only three types of filler for pillows: feather, feather feather, down. Feather pillows have always been considered the softest and most airy. Down feathers are chosen by fans of hard pillows, and feather pillows are most often found in budget institutions. Now the choice of textiles has become much more than before, and more recently bamboo cushions have appeared.

 Bamboo cushions

Bamboo pillows in their texture resemble cotton wool and synthetic winterizer, they are very soft, light and voluminous. For such pillows and covers, they are usually sewn from bamboo or cotton fabric.

Filler for pillows and its description

Nowadays, there are two ways of processing bamboo raw materials - it is mechanical and chemical.

During mechanical processing, the stems are crushed, and then treated with enzymes and turned into a homogeneous soft mass. Similar technology produces flax. From the resulting homogeneous mass pull the thread length of 15 - 20 centimeters. This process of processing is too energy-consuming and laborious, and therefore quite expensive.

During chemical processing, the stems together with the leaves are ground to a state of sawdust. After that, the resulting raw material is treated with reagents to get a sticky mass. The resulting mass is driven through the plate, and then laid out in acid in order to harden it. At the final stage, all chemicals are washed out of bamboo fiber, after which it becomes environmentally friendly. This method of processing is by far the most common due to low cost.

Fact! Bamboo fiber is always white in color with a porous structure, while it is durable. No matter how it was produced, apparently it does not differ from each other.

Bamboo and woody viscose will last a long time without losing their structure. Also such raw materials are not harmful to health. This happens due to the strength, simplicity and durability of synthetics with its positive properties of natural fiber.

  7. Such textiles do not need to be serviced in dry-cleaning, it will be enough home conditions for it.
  8. Bamboo pillows are durable and durable.

Disadvantages of bamboo pillows

 Disadvantages of bamboo pillows

  1. The product is quickly crushed. Over time, the fibers begin to clog, and it becomes not as comfortable as it was before.
  2. If you use a pillow with bamboo filler in a very humid climate, then it can absorb all the moisture like a sponge and not have time to dry out.

These drawbacks can easily be solved by regularly beating the pillow, after which it will again become elastic and voluminous. Products from a synthetic winterizer, unfortunately, in such a way not to recover.

From some sources, you can find out that bamboo pillows can have a rejuvenating effect, but this is rather an advertising move. Although, if you sleep on such a pillow, you can get a rash on the face and skin irritation. This is due to the fact that mites that can cause skin inflammation do not start up in the bamboo fiber.

It is very difficult to find real opinions from experts about the benefits of such textiles, since no doctor will take responsibility for and confirm unverified statements. But one thing is for sure that bactericidal properties are confirmed by laboratory tests.
