Garden pea is a warbler that can be found on the territory of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, India, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan.
Garden view is almost no different from reed and marsh warblers. They all look almost the same - the length is from 10 to 18 centimeters, the size of the wings is from 5 to 7 centimeters, and the weight is about 10 to 17 grams.
The bird called warbler cannot boast a bright color, on the contrary, both the male and the female have the same gray-brown color above and olive-beige in the lower parts of the body. The most important feature of the garden dogs is their imitation singing, which they publish at night. These singing creatures imitate the sounds of other birds and do so much more slowly than their swamp counterparts.
Features of appearance
Mature warblers during the mating season look special. In general, these birds have their backs painted in a deep olive color. But the nadkhvostnaya part is a bit lighter than the olive back, and the tail and wings, on the contrary, are even more deeply worked out and therefore look very dull.
Gray, smoky color prevails on the prominent side of the bird, it extends from the tail to the throat. Also gray is found on claws and fingers.
In the summer, this feathered songbird looks rather gloomy. It is in a fading form that all the color dullness of this bird is visible - the back is gray-brown, the belly is dirty-whitish. But mature individuals in the new autumn look can boast of reddish flowers on the dorsal side and an admixture of ocher on the ventral part of the body. The young growth during the autumn period has brighter and more reddish coloring, than adults.
Habitats
The garden bird, as already described above, lives in many countries, it is sometimes found near Leningrad, in the east of Estonia, in West Siberian swamps, in Mongolia, in Altai, on the Irtysh, near Nepal, near Saratov. Wintering is sent to India, Pakistan and other thermal countries.
The feathered traveler enters the territory of the former USSR only in the summer season. This is a flying view that does not stay in our area for a long time.
First meeting
In 1901, for the first time, a garden reed was found on the territory of the former USSR, it was spotted on March 10-13 in the Murghab valley. After migration of birds was noticeable - at the end of June they began to prepare for the autumn departure from the USSR, but finally left the CIS in August-September 1901.
Experts have noticed that the birds are beginning to gradually fly away from the USSR, so these birds started to fly away from the Moscow region on August 24 and almost did not meet in the capital's outskirts by September 9.
Behavior
Garden warbler is considered a lover of the forest, she prefers the deciduous, then coniferous forest. In general, the bird is nomadic and adapts to a variety of conditions and climatic landscapes.
In the taiga often creates nests in the bushes and in the meadow space, which is located near the marshes, lakes, rivers, canals. Also, its presence can be observed in overgrown raspberries, in small pits, in bushes and ravines.
In the forest-steppe region, it wanders into small, birch forests and sometimes comes across completely unconventional terrain (where there are no trees and shrubs).Reed on open, dry locations to settle in water bodies, slightly overgrown with small reeds and rivers, but only in places with bushes or reeds.
At streams and small rivulets, it occupies areas in willow and stony groves. It lives on the slopes of hills in the thickets of shrubs, and sometimes in reed fences, sometimes far away from water. Sometimes it settles in social, deserted places - these can be vegetable gardens overgrown with weeds, abandoned parks, ditches, overgrown gardens, especially those that are close to ponds and rivers.
The mountainous territory was also chosen by the pevynia, it inhabits the hips and uncultivated sorts of cherries. Located on the slopes of the valleys and hills. As for the mountainous area, here the warbler prefers to nest at an altitude of 800 - 1300 meters. It lives on the plateaus of the Urals, on the Tien Shan and near the mountain streams of the Kopetdag.
Population
The number of warblers varies and directly depends on the terrain. Her little in the northern parts, for example, it is difficult to find this bird in the Leningrad region or the valley of the Yenisei. But you can usually meet a songbird in the Urals, the Baltics, in the Smolensk region and the Olonets region, as well as in the entire middle European region of the former USSR.
Breeding
In spring, birds return to nesting sites. Upon arrival, mature males start singing and occupy nesting places. The nests themselves are at a varied distance from water bodies, in some cases far enough. They are found in dense nettles, jasmine bushes, overgrown berry bushes, dogrose, cherries and other vegetation.
The most important thing for the reed when selecting a location for a nest is the presence of vegetation density and a lot of light on the particles of this vegetation. The bird hangs the nests on the stems and branches, but the shape of the nests is usually either cone-shaped or cup-shaped.
The female lays from 4 to 6 eggs, quite volatile in their color. The first type of eggs is covered with pale pink tones, the background of the second eggs is in matte, milky white color, and the third one is presented in a gray-white version.
Moult
These birds change their plumage twice a year. First comes premarital, and after the post-nuptial change of feathers. The first molt occurs in winter, and the second - in the fall. However, young individuals can have a partial molt in the final stage of the summer.
Sonic habits
Dark brown in the height and greyish in the lower sector, she, the warbler makes a double or triple urge to "check", signaling some kind of event. The song is feathered is unique, it is difficult to confuse with another. It consists of separate shouts and syllables, and behind each of them is the famous and repeated “check-check-check”.
In moments of the mating season, you can constantly hear the singing males, they wail for days. Despite this fact, the males give out songs completely different in character, for example, in the daytime a rhythmic, fast song is heard, which happens even without pauses. This is due to the fact that the bird does not sleep at this time, it searches for food, changes its position and performs many physical operations.
At night, the bird is passive and publishes its song from one place, usually sitting on the top of a bush or branch.Night song has a calm, slow and high volume, it also contains pauses and measured.
