The dog was called Kumaik, which meant its birth from a strong and strong bird vulture. In the epic it is told what amazing speed and power the dog possessed. Indeed, the Taigan, or Kirghiz Greyhound, has unique abilities. Today, it can reach speeds of more than 50 km per hour, which puts the animal on a single step with the fastest mammals in the world, for example, with a cheetah. In antiquity, the taigan was simply necessary; a representative of this dog lived in every home, or rather, in every yurt. The Taigans moved beautifully, helping to hunt small animals - hares, foxes, badgers, mountain goats. Long paws greyhound allowed her to move without difficulty in any terrain. And the dog moved quickly and silently, not only on even steppe reliefs, but also on mountainous areas, without losing speed.

The Taigans possessed a powerful protective instinct, they could not sleep a day without a break, protecting the herd and property of the owner. If necessary, the Taigans easily fought off the attack of wolves. Surprisingly, even wolves, sensing the smell of a dog, did not always decide to hunt, because they knew that the chances were equal. The old chronicles tell us how they tested dogs of a given breed - they simply carried the animal under a camel. As you probably already understood, dogs of this breed are not for everyone. Of course, Taigans cannot be kept in an apartment - they are freedom-loving animals who like the expanse of the steppe or the heights of highlands. A great place to keep taigans is a private country house with a large local area. The dog is adapted to the daytime heat and penetrating night cold - an airbag is formed in the undercoat, which protects the animal from temperature drops. In the care and maintenance of the dog quite unpretentious. If you keep a pet in the aviary, you must give the dog a few times a day to “inspect” the nearest territory. It is best to let the dog out of the aviary for the whole night - this is a great way to let the dog feel its protective purpose. Ideally, Taigans are better to start in areas where there are rivers, mountains, forests. Only with sufficient physical activity will the dog develop properly.
